Intercommunication between Kaiping City and friendship-City Mesa

Since Kaiping City established friendship relations with Mesa City, Arizona of America in 1994, both sides have communicated for economy and culture, our intercommunication are following:
In July 2002, a delegation of city planning and foreign affairs, Mr. Shi, Zhaoping, mayor of Kaiping City, as a leader, visited Mesa City. They were welcome by important members of Mesa government and important members of overseas Chinese. They visited Mr. Keno Hawker, the mayor of Mesa City, Williams Air Force Base, programming bureau of Mesa City, and Mesa community college. During stay in America, Mr. Shi Zhaoping had a lecture in city council with invitation. This visit solidified our friendship and enhanced our comprehension. It was successful. It has established communication foundation and made condition for further relations of two cities’ economy, culture and city construction. Arizona Times, a local famous news media, reported this visit.
In the middle and end of May 2002, 18 teachers and students from Mesa community college of America visited Kaiping Changsha normal college, TV & Video university, CSFX primary school and Jinshan middle school. American students attended English classes and communicated with Kaiping students. All of them had personal experience for difference culture. It had positive effect on our students’ English.
On February 10, 2001, Mr. Keno Hawker, mayor of Mesa City had a friendship visit to Kaiping City together with his children. There was a welcome wedding at Kaiping Ever Joint Hotel. Mr. Tan Sizhe, the secretary of Kaiping municipal party committee and Standing committeeman of Jiangmen municipal committee, Mr. Shi Zhaoping, the mayor, Ms. Su Qingxiang, the director of Kaiping People’s congress committee and Mr. Su Shudong, the first deputy mayor welcome American guests warmly. On the greeting ceremony, both sides presented souvenir. Accompanied by Mr. Shi zhaoping and officers from foreign affairs office, office of overseas Chinese and investment attracting bureau, Mr. Keno Hawker also looked around Terylene group company, Kaiping Elec & Eltek international company limited, Kaiping industry park, Li garden and Kaiping City. Mr. Keno Hawker had an excellent impression for beautiful appearance of Kaiping City, he showed that he would bring delegation to visit Kaiping at a later time, and both sides should have communication from science and culture and enhance cooperation.
From May 30 to the first ten days of June, 2000, two professors and 15 students from Mesa adult college, separated into two batches, had study intercommunion at Kaiping TV & Video university. There was an English communication rap session together with our students from 98 English class of junior college and 99 economical trading class of technical secondary school of this school. With our students’ invitation, American professors and students also had sight-see for Kaiping City, Jinshan holiday tourist, Li garden, South tower, Kaiyuan Tower and other famous views, and had a visit on Tanjiang river at night.
