Folk arts lovers from Kaiping and Macau celebrate the golden autumn

On the evening of October 19th, the launching ceremony of the 17th "Golden Autumn Quyi Respect for the Elderly Week" of Kaiping City "Qunfang Cantonese Respect for the Elderly" was held in the People's Hall of Kaiping City.The Macau Qunfang Opera Troupe led by Macau folks Wu Zaiquan, Kuang Ying and his wife, and Macau compatriot Lu Liyi once again came to Kaiping City to bring a rich cultural feast to the majority of Cantonese opera lovers. 

The Respect for the Elderly folk art evening was hosted by Macau Qunfang Yueyun and Kaiping Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Sports.At the party, Macao folks Wu Zaiquan, Kuang Ying and his wife, and Macao compatriot Ms. Lu Liyi donated 50,000 yuan to the Kaiping Cultural Center for the purchase of cultural equipment. Kaiping City also gave back souvenirs to several enthusiastic people.

With the sound of gongs and drums, the performance of "Long and Lion Celebrating the Golden Autumn" brought by the students of Jinshan Elementary School kicked off this year's folk art gala.At the party, wonderful quyi shows such as "Lu'anzhou" and "The Peony Pavilion" were staged in turn, which won the audience cheers.

In the past 20 years, Wu Zaiquan,  Kuang Ying and his wife have made special trips to visit the elderly and students in their hometowns on festivals, and sponsored the "Golden Autumn Quyi Respect for the Elderly Week" for 17 consecutive years.Since 2018, they have donated more than 1.1 million yuan to Jinshan Elementary School to purchase teaching equipment to support the development of Kaiping's education. This year, another 300,000 yuan was donated to build gatehouses for Jinshan Primary School and continue to contribute to Kaiping's cultural education.
